OUR STORY

It all started with Drogo, our American Staffordshire Terrior Mix that we rescued from a high kill shelter, the NYACC.  Since the day he came into our lives, we were forever changed. His amazing energy, unconditional love, and expressive loyalty makes us better in life and teaches us to live in the moment. 

 

Only after we adopted Drogo, did we realize how this beautiful and loyal breed succumbs to such terrible stereotype, neglect, and abuse. The daily struggles and battle of owning a pitbull became personal, having to defend Drogo and the breed in general. So it became our mission to work with Drogo and train him to be the best dog he can be and send the message out loud and clear. The negative connotation against pitbulls need to stop! We need and want to educate people to better understand that it's not the breed but the handlers that are to blame. Our focus in training Drogo was discipline, consistency, creating routines and boundaries, and most importantly exercise. That's not just for pitbulls but for ALL DOGS! That is where FITPIT NYC began.

 

Our goal for FITPIT NYC is to provide dog owners and their furry best friends the most important element in having a well behaved and happy dog. A well exercised dog opens a window of opportunity to aid with aggression, repetitive bad behavior, anxiety, stress release, and relaxation. A boost to their immune system, improved cardiovascular health, and weight loss are health benefits your dog will experience, too. All leading to one healthy and happy pup.

 

While our intention is to provide exercise services to dogs in NYC, we want our boy Drogo to shine a positive light on pitbulls and educate those who misunderstand or fear his breed. We aim to support those that fight endlessly to save this breed by giving back to select organizations and foundations. Help us give to those that don't have a voice and choose FITPIT NYC.
